Who? All Millard north HS orchestra students and their families

When? Wednesday, oct. 12, 6-8 PM 

where? Vala’s Pumpkin Patch, 12102 S. 180 St., Gretna, NE at Site #19 (In the Corn stalk teepee area)!

Cost? Admission on wednesdays is $17.99 per person (plus tax) 

What to Bring?

• Please bring skewers/roasting sticks to share – label with your name!
• Check the weather to see what clothes you should wear!  It can get chilly!  You will probably need a jacket!

We will gather at site #19 for a cookout dinner and socialization.  

Students are free to explore the pumpkin patch with their friends. 

 Mrs. Martinez will stay from 5:30-8:00 p.m.  The orchestra-sponsored event ends at 8:00 p.m. The pumpkin patch is open until 9 PM, and students may stay with parent knowledge/permission.

*This is not a required activity, but will earn students letter points and lifetime memories!

We have a limited number of violins, violas, cellos, and basses for rent from our school inventory.  If you would like to rent one of these instruments, the fee is $90 for the year.  Email Mrs. Martinez for more information.

Instruments – No instruments needed on the first days of school!

• Philharmonic (5th hour) students will bring instruments on Friday, August 12. 
• Symphony Orchestra (1st and 2nd hour) students will bring instruments starting Monday, August 15. 

Do double check your instrument for maintenance: purchasing a new set of strings and getting the bow rehaired are great ways to start ready to make your best sound!

Your child’s first assignment requires parent participation! 

• Part 1: Students will review the Orchestra Handbook in class on Thursday, and will have a chance to complete the Student Version of the handbook signature form.
• Part 2: Parents and Guardians – please review the handbook, paying special attention to pages 2-7 for concert dates and other important expectations.  Once you have the concert dates marked in the family calendar, please complete the Parent Version of the handbook signature form.  Once both steps have been completed, the points will go in the gradebook. 

Please complete the forms by Friday, Aug. 26.

Orchestra Party THIS FRIDAY Aug. 19 @ Cottonwood Park, 3:45-5:45 PM.

We’ll meet at the pavilion on the east side of the park. Please bring the snack assigned to your last name:

• A-H = salty snacks
• J-N = sweet snacks
• P-Z = drinks.

Rides need to pick up at 5:45 please!

MNHS Auditorium : To prepare for our closing mass-ensemble concert piece, we will need all orchestra members to attend a special rehearsal this Monday, Oct. 4.  Students will need their instruments, a music stand, and their Seven Nation Army sheet music.

Parents, please join me for our organizational meeting Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 PM in the MNHS Orchestra Room (room 1520 – park on the north side of the building – door #31 across from the tennis courts on the north side will be unlocked for entry). 

Our main goals are to meet and greet each other as orchestra family, and get ready for the October and December concerts!
